YOUNG LEADERS L.O.V.E. COLLAB
Transforming Communities Through Empathy, Collaboration, Innovation, and Socially Responsible Leadership.
A proven solution for the absolute humanitarian crisis of leadership we are experiencing in our country. This workshop educates and empowers brilliant young leaders who have been marginalized, silenced, or told to “wait your turn” — and it equips them with the networks, opportunities, and resources they need to become empathetic and loving leaders of their community.

L.O.V.E. Is The Answer’s Powerful New Workshop
The Young Leaders L.O.V.E. Collab, is an amazing Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) experience that will spark meaningful, transformational, and much-needed work in your community — work that will be led by young adults and teens who will be empowered by the practice of L.O.V.E. (LEARN about people, OPEN your heart to their needs, VOLUNTEER to be part of the solution in their lives, and EMPOWER others to do the same).

L.O.V.E. Is The Answer’s “charrette-style” workshops are tailor-made for high schools, community colleges, colleges, universities, trade schools, and community centers throughout the U.S. A charrette is a meeting in which all stakeholders in a project or community attempt to resolve conflicts and map solutions to issues such as under-resourced schools and communities, police-community divides, bullying, school shootings, poverty, homelessness, hunger, violence, racism, drug addiction, gangs, crime, environmental equity, and more. A charrette is a very empowering, engaging, and rewarding process that was made famous in the 2019 film “The Best of Enemies,” which was based on a true story.
Informed by hundreds of community screenings of our award-winning film, WALKING WHILE BLACK: L.O.V.E. Is The Answer, we held our first Young Leaders L.O.V.E. Collab at Howard Community College in Columbia, MD 12/10/24. The workshop, consisting of dinner, movie, deep discussion, and pledges to put what they learned into action, was a smashing success, with participants agreeing help meet the needs of students and teachers at two local grade schools in the coming year! It was funded by local government and community organizations and guided by our team, but led by teens and young adults. In this workshop, adults participate, but teens and young adults lead small group discussions. The event ends with participants pledging action beyond the walls of the event. In the days, weeks, and months following the event, young adults are given the opportunity to lead working groups to implement ideas to solve up to three different problems and the older adult community leaders are asked to commit the resources (time, talent, and treasure) to support their efforts.

Young people have amazing ideas and energy, but they are rarely given access to the power, resources, and opportunities to put their ideas into action. Too often, we keep them voiceless while our communities proverbially and sometimes literally burn.
Glenn E. Martin, the legendary community activist and highly successful entrepreneur, says “People closest to the problem are closest to the solution, but furthest from power and resources.” The Young Leaders L.O.V.E. Collab closes the gap between decision-making adults and millions of voiceless teens and young adults who are ready to help lead right now but are senselessly being told in so many ways to “wait their turn.”

Young Leaders L.O.V.E. Collab is education, team building, leadership development, and more. Best of all, it gets everyone out of their silos and off of their perches to empower the next generation of community leaders! The filled to capacity inaugural event in Howard County, MD included the President of the community college, a County Council Member, the Deputy Chief of the Howard County Police Department and representatives from dozens of businesses, government agencies, nonprofits, ministries, schools and other groups — 140 people from every corner of the community, including dozens of college and high school students, some of whom transformed from fearful to fearless in just a few hours!
This isn’t just a “feel good” program. Brilliant young people leave their community every day for greener pastures because of a perceived lack of opportunity. The Young Leaders L.O.V.E. Collab is a solid investment that will pay big dividends by encouraging, equipping, and empowering young adults to see and be seen, and take leadership roles in your community. It’s a highly effective leadership development and social responsibility accelerator that produces tangible results in real time. There is no better investment that you could make in your own community than investing in your young leaders.

The Young Leaders L.O.V.E. Collab workshop is also the perfect lead-in to a community taking the next step of participating in our Ultimate Team Building Experience, which consists of a 12-week empathetic leadership class, a celebrity event, and an episode of our TV series being filmed featuring class participants as cast and crew members helping a nonprofit and a family in need in their community.
